You can now check in SIT the possible impacts of recent regulatory decisions on 2014 electricity tariffs
Last week, ANEEL presented the new proposed values for CDE (Energy Development Account) quotas. In an article published by the Reuters news agency, ANEEL's director-general, Romeu Rufino, noted that the CDE pass-through to consumers in 2014 is closer to normal, since last year's payment was lower due to Treasury contributions and the use of the account's balance.
"It's not that charges are being raised, it's that we're restoring the level that used to be charged. In 2013, with the use of the balance and Treasury contributions, what was left for the consumer was much lower than what's normally set," he said.
In this same article, ANEEL director André Pepitone also noted that this year's CDE revenue doesn't include consumers repaying last year's contribution to cover the higher cost of thermal-plant energy. According to Pepitone, that repayment is expected to happen over up to five years.
